St Cuthbert's RC High School

Date published: 07 September 2016

Welcome back to all of our staff and students. We hope you all had an enjoyable summer and that are refreshed and recharged ready to start a new year.

GCSE Results

We are delighted to announce that over the summer our students achieved the best ever GCSE results in the history of St. Cuthbert’s.

We are extremely proud of our young people and their results. There are some outstanding performances that reflect the hard work and commitment of our wonderful students and the extremely committed and highly skilled staff of St Cuthbert's. These results confirm that St Cuthbert's is not only a good school, according to Ofsted, but that our school is continuing to improve, going from strength to strength.

Stars of the Week from the last week of Summer Term:

  • Estelle Morgan for her outstanding Garage Band project in Music
  • Ella Goulding for showing real bravery in Drama last year
  • Nikola Janowska for helping Mrs Knox on Drop Down Day
  • Thomas Patterson for his fabulous Dragon design

The new Music timetable for instrumental/vocal lessons will begin shortly. Please check the timetable in the Music block.

School Production: Rehearsals for ‘We Will Rock You’ will begin next week. Please check the screens in school to see when you will be needed. Only 11 weeks until Showtime!

Specialisms News:

Every week the specialist subjects will be sharing their successes with our school community. Specialisms are those subjects that pupils have chosen to study in depth as a GCSE.

This includes: Resistant Materials, Food Technology, Health and Social Care, Computer Science, Business Studies, PE, Art, Drama, Music and Media Studies.

Pupils who choose to further their study in these areas can look forward to a challenging and rewarding experience with dedicated, talented staff who will ensure that the students in their care will achieve their potential. Mrs Maloney (Assistant Head of Specialisms) will be working closely with these departments to continue to deliver excellence in the true spirit of the ‘St Cuthbert’s Way’.
