Special send off for Nora Theresa Peake

Date published: 06 September 2016

Loving grandson Callum Sansam, 19, organised a send off with a difference for his grandmother, Nora Theresa Peake, with motorbikes leading the funeral procession on Monday.

Mr Sansam posted an appeal for bikers online as Mrs Peake loved bikes and encouraged her family to ride them. Around two dozen bikes escorted the procession to Rochdale Crematorium.

Mrs Peake died suddenly on 12 August after long term heart problems. She was 78. She is survived by two children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was born in 1937 in Fermoy, Co. Cork, Ireland where she was a Catholic nun before moving to America. She later moved to England where she lived on Edenfield Road.

Her hobbies included reading, dancing, watching murder documentaries and drinking whiskey.

Gary Sansam said: “My mother in law was very popular; she was always up for a laugh.”
