Man arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after fire services were called to a semi-detached property on Monmouth Street, Middleton at 2.50pm on Monday.

The crews from Blackley and Chadderton used a hose reel, two breathing kits and a ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

The ground and first floors of the house were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

The man currently remains in police custody.
