Council resurface and repair over 70 footpaths and bridleways

Date published: 05 September 2016

The Right of Way Forum met on 25 August with a full agenda of issues to discuss. Members were given an update of the progress being made with the new Definitive Map.

Roy Thorniley from Rochdale Ramblers Group said: “The floods at Christmas caused a lot of extra work for the various Council Departments, in spite of that, between April and July the Council had cleared vegetation and resurfaced and repaired over 70 footpaths and bridleways around the Borough in response to reports which were sent in.

“During August and September, the Council plans to replace missing footpath signs and make other minor repairs following reports submitted.

“The first batch of repair/replacement work will be in the Milnrow area where 14 paths are affected and similar work in other areas of the borough will continue over the coming months.”

The meeting at Green Lane was attended by walking and bridleway groups, four local councillors and council officers.
