Mia Maddix donating hair to The Little Princess Trust

Date published: 31 August 2016

Ten-year-old Mia Maddix is donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust charity, which uses the donated hair to create real hair wigs for children who are receiving treatment for cancer.

Mia, who is a pupil at St Vincent’s Primary School in Norden, decided to cut her hair after friends had previously donated their hair to charity. Her hair currently reaches 26 inches in length.

Her mum, Kathryn Maddix, said: “It was a really big decision as she loves having long hair. She has always had long hair and she feels this will be a massive change.

“Mia is looking forward to helping other children and thinks The Little Princess Trust is a brilliant charity.”

The Little Princess Trust also supplies children with other conditions that result in hair loss, such as alopecia. 120g of hair is required for each wig, which is approximately five to seven donations. A minimum donation of seven inches is required.

Mia will be having her hair cut at The Hairdressing Room and Beauty Lounge, St Mary’s Gate, Rochdale at 9am on Saturday 3 September.
She is also hoping to raise at least £150.
