Casualties cut from vehicle on M62

Two people had to be cut from a vehicle following a multi-vehicle crash on the M62 on Bank Holiday Monday (29 August).

Emergency services were called at 12.30pm to the collision on the M62 between junctions 20 and 21 eastbound.

Two people were trapped in a vehicle and two other people were walking wounded.

Fire crew from Rochdale, Heywood and Chadderton and the technical rescue unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended the scene and Webber cutting equipment was used to free the two casualties. First aid was also given to casualties at the scene.

North West Ambulance Service, the Air Ambulance and Greater Manchester Police also attended.

A diversion at the exit for junction 21 was in place for a number of hours.
