Stephen Turtill to participate in walk for Alzheimer’s

Date published: 22 August 2016

Stephen Turtill, from Swansway Honda Rochdale, will be taking part in the 2016 Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s will take place on 17 September at Heaton Park, Manchester, and the money raised will support research into creating a world without dementia.

Stephen understands the impact that Alzheimer’s can have after losing his mother to the disease. It took just eighteen months for the disease to take effect and the impact upon the family has been dramatic.

A parts advisor at Swansway Honda Rochdale, he said: “We are really proud to support the end of Alzheimer’s. The disease has had a profound impact on our family and we are keen to do what we can to make sure it doesn’t affect others.

“The entire Honda team has really got behind the cause and has assisted in raising funds to support it. In 2015, the Alzheimer’s Society estimated that there were 850,000 people with dementia in the UK. There are very few people who haven’t been directly affected or know someone who has been impacted by the disease.”

Stephen will be participating in the walk along with his sister Denise, partner Joanne and niece Laura. As a team, they have a fundraising target of £600.

The Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk is taking place nationwide throughout September and October.
