Danczuk arrested in Spain

Date published: 16 August 2016

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has been arrested in Spain after a row with ex-wife Karen.

The Sun reports that Karen Danczuk was left "bloody and bruised after a row with her ex-husband while the pair holidayed in Spain":

The Danczuk's relationship has always been volatile and this is not the first time they have had a major bust up on holiday in Spain. Back in 2009, when Mr Danczuk was still married to first wife, Sonia, and Karen Burke (as she was then) was his mistress, Rochdale Online reported on a row between the pair whilst on holiday in Alicante in August 2008 that resulted in long standing Labour party members being expelled from the party after they called for Mr Danczuk's behaviour to be investigated.

The Mail on Sunday picked the story up some years later and published an article in July 2015:

Prior to this latest scandal, the people of Rochdale had given their verdict and called for Mr Danczuk to stand down:

The MP, who is suspended from the Labour party for sending sex messages to a 17-year-old girl, remains under investigation by police in this country over an accusation of rape, which he denies.

He is also under investigation by the Metropolitan Police over his previous expense claims.

Mrs Danczuk has been approached for comment.
