Police hunt morons super-gluing residents’ doors shut

Date published: 10 August 2016

Homes in Heywood have had doors super-glued shut in a spate of senseless attacks – sparking an urgent police investigation.

A total of 45 flats and 25 garages have been targeted over recent weeks in the Heywood area, prompting 88 warning letters to be sent out from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) to residents.

RBH is working alongside Greater Manchester Police to find those responsible for the attacks and deal with them accordingly.

The streets that have been targeted include South Avenue, Crown Road and High Street in Heywood.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing said: “Over the last month, around 45 flats and 25 garages in central Heywood have had their locks glued between the hours of 1am and 6am.

“This is causing distress and great inconvenience to residents as well as considerable expense to RBH. We are working closely with the local police to identify those responsible and we have delivered 88 letters to residents on Crown Road, High Street and South Avenue.

“We would ask residents to be vigilant and to pass on any information they feel is relevant to the local police and to the RBH enforcement team.”

Anyone with information about the incidents can contact enforcement officer Graham Dunes on 273974 or neighbourhood housing officer Susan Fleming on 274100.

To report to the police, dial 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
