Date published: 09 August 2016

A boy is seriously ill in hospital following a collision in Falinge.

A red Toyota Yaris was travelling along High Street towards the junction with Red Cross Street when it was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 308, which was travelling along Red Cross Street heading towards St Marys Gate shortly before 7.15pm on Monday.

The Yaris then mounted the pavement and collided with a 10-year-old boy.

The boy suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for surgery, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The drivers of the two cars were not injured.

Sergeant Lee Westhead from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We are doing all we can to support the boy’s family at this very traumatic time and our thoughts remain with him as he receives treatment in hospital.

“Our investigation to establish the exact causes in the lead up to this collision remains ongoing.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact officers at GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741.”
