Young boy hospitalised after car crash off St Mary’s Gate

A 10-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries as a result of being involved in a collision close to St Mary’s Gate, A58, in Rochdale town centre on Monday night.
Greater Manchester Police cordoned the area off as paramedics attended to the young boy, who had suffered numerous injuries and was drifting in and out of consciousness.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed that they boy was rushed to North Manchester Children’s Hospital where he remains for treatment.
St Mary’s Gate was closed in both directions at approximately 8.20pm, but was re-opened an hour later.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
