Brunin family fundraising for Springhill

Three generations visited Springhill Tea Room last week to show their appreciation of the care given by Springhill’s doctors and nurses to husband, father and grandfather Roy Brunins.

Roy’s widow, Laraine, asked for friends and family to make a donation to the Hospice, while two of Roy’s daughters, Sarah and Helen, raised money in their own way by taking part in July’s Moonlit Sprint or Stroll. The total of their combined fundraising efforts is an amazing amount of money, £870.

Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill Hospice’s Fundraising Manager said: “We are so very grateful to the entire family for helping us, especially at this difficult time. The money raised will go directly to patients care, ensuring that another member of our community, along with their family, will receive the same love and care as Roy”.

The Brunin family have been supporters of the Hospice for many years. The family business, Wardle News, not only finds counter space for one of the Hospice’s silver collecting tins, but actively encourages everyone to give up their spare change, they also make donations by putting their 5p carrier bag charge into the Hospice tin.

The shop is also a fantastic outlet for selling the Hospice’s annual fundraising calendar. Laraine has also promised to donate much of Roy’s art products to the Hospice’s Creative Therapy team, Roy’s visits to Day Hospice inspired a love of painting, so Laraine thought it fitting to donate Roy’s paints etc., to the team.
