Springhill Hospice Open Garden Day

Date published: 08 August 2016

Whether Hospice supporters, horticultural fans or simply a family wanting a nice day out, everyone was catered for at Sunday’s Springhill Hospice Open Garden Day.

Head Gardener, Nick Dent, along with his assistant Harry and a team of hard working, dedicated volunteers, made sure the award winning hospice grounds were blooming for the annual open day.

It wasn’t just the immaculate grounds that drew the visitors to Springhill, homemade cakes, handmade pizza topped with veg grown in the gardens and baked in a wood fired oven ensured there was something for everyone’s palate.

A floral demonstration by Littleborough florist The Flower & the Glory and expert advice for creating hanging baskets from Newbank Garden Centre made for a special day.

Regular Giving Co-ordinator Elaine McConnell said: “What a lovely day, all in aid of the Hospice.

"Thank you to everyone who came along and to the amazing volunteers who gave up their time and expertise to help raise a ‘bloomin’ marvellous’ £1,400 for Springhill Hospice.”
