Man dies after being found lying in Roch Valley Way with head injuries

A man has died after being found lying unconscious in the middle of Roch Valley Way, Rochdale.

Police were called to Roch Valley Way at 2.30am this morning (3 August) to reports that the man was lying motionless in the road with head injuries and was suffering a cardiac arrest.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, which is being treated as unexplained. Formal ID has not yet taken place.

Detective Inspector Andy Butterworth, of GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “We have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to this man’s death.

“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or seen anything that can help us establish how this man died to come forward.
