Date published: 02 August 2016

Charity workers have expressed their despair after the Springhill Hospice Emporium was targeted again by burglars.

The charity retail store ,on the corner of Milnrow Road and Molesworth Street, has only been open since the 10 June and suffered its first break in just weeks afterwards:

This morning (Tuesday 2 August) workers arrived at the town centre store to find that theives had smashed their way into the building yet again, despite the fact there is never any money left in the till overnight.

Greater Manchester Police’s Crime Scene Investigation was on the scene this morning, and an investigation has been launched to find those responsible.

A spokesperson for the emporium said: “Nobody leaves money in tills these days, there is never any money in there, so it beggars belief that they would try again. It’s possible that they saw the till through the window and thought we were an easy target, but we aren’t.”

He added: “We called the police as soon as we realised what had happened. They broke the window, damaged the door and generally just made a mess of the place. It’s shocking that this happened again.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
