Rochdale Connections Trust Big Lottery programme launch

Date published: 02 August 2016

Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT) has launched its new targeted youth programme in collaboration with M6 Theatre, 'Rochdale Cares To Act'.

RCT and M6 Theatre enter into a four year collaboration reaching out into Rochdale communities and target vulnerable young persons between the age of 11 to 16 to help bring about an improvement in mental health and increased self-worth.

As part of the project RCT is rebuilding its mentor program, which ended in December 2015. The program requires suitable volunteer adults, who will receive training and be allocated and matched to suitable young people.

A spokesperson for RCT said: "We are recruiting for our new mentor panel and are looking for people who have an interest in helping young people by becoming a mentor. We are seeking individuals from all walks of life. We value the diversity of our society and seek to work with volunteers who bring with them a wealth of life experiences, skills and interests.

"We are looking for people who believe that young people deserve the chance to build a brighter future for them. Volunteers do not need previous experience of this type of role; RCT will seek to ensure that volunteers develop the necessary skills and knowledge so to be successful in the role.

"We would welcome support from the Rochdale Business Community and would urge anyone who is interested to contact the Programme Coordinator, Bob Morrissey on 01706 345111 for more information."
