Heywood visited by Royal Horticultural Society
Date published: 18 July 2016
Heywood was the latest town to be visited by the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) on Thursday 14 July as part of their North West in Bloom competition.
This year’s judges were North West in Bloom chairman, Bill Blackledge MBE and Russell Baguley. They were accompanied by Ellen Wintle-Yates, chairwoman of Heywood in Bloom and members of each individual project were able to meet the judges as they were shown round.
The Mayor met the judges at The Old Police Station after they were given a tour of the town centre, which had been decorated with colourful hanging and saddle baskets.
Results of the visit will be announced in October at an awards ceremony in Southport, where the Heywood entry will have an information stall about the town.
