Rochdale Borough Council Planning Officers had supported the application claiming that whilst the proposed dwelling represented 'inappropriate development' in the Green Belt, 'very special circumstances' existed to depart from national policy. However, the Planning Committee of councillors agreed unanimously that no special circumstances were found.

Anne Shorrock, Bamford Green Belt Protection Group said: "The Green Belt land on the border of Bamford and Norden is again under threat due to a re-submission of an application which councillors unanimously refused on the 12 January 2016."

Objections must be submitted by 19 July 2016.
