Summer Fair Thursday 14 July

Our popular Summer Fair will be straight after school on Thursday 14 July. The School Band and Junior Blast will be playing which is a real treat, so please come along and enjoy our fabulous band, which is officially the best not only in Rochdale but nationally.

We will also be holding our usual very popular raffle which will be called at 4.30pm in the school hall.

In order to prepare, we asked for you to search your house for any unwanted items.
hank you so much for sending them in; unused and unwanted toiletries; bottles of anything from wine to shampoo; teddies that your child has grown out of; unwanted chocolate for the chocolate tombola; plants you can part with.

Nearer the day of the Summer Fair PTFA will be requesting donations of cakes etc. which obviously can’t be sent in any sooner. You will receive a letter from them giving you a date and time to bring them in. The homemade cakes could well be our favourite part of Summer Fair.

Grandparents Day

We had a record number of Grandparents who came to visit and join in with their grandchildren in Reception. In fact we had to use two rooms when they had their tea and cake. Luckily there was plenty of delicious home baking so there was enough to go round.

Building improvements to the School

Many thanks to Matthew Watson, who has installed a barked seating and play area on the playground at a fraction of the real cost. We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for recommending the company but we are very grateful for the lovely new seating area.

Fathers’ Day Pop Up shop

On Friday 17 June PTFA held their annual Fathers’ Day pop up shop, which made twice as much as the Mothers’ Day pop up shop at £400. Thank you so much everyone.

KS 1 Sports Day 30 June

The rain held off for KS1 Sports Day. There was a fantastic turn out of parents – we estimate at least 200 parents and grandparents. Well done to those who took part in the ‘grownup’ races. Great fun.

Year 5 and 6 Residential and Olympic week

We were absolutely delighted with the Year 5 and 6 children who took part in their special week – either enjoying the residential in Scotland which ran from Sunday 19 June to Friday 24 June, or all the trips and fun activities arranged in school and on trips for those who did not go to Scotland. On Friday 15July at 2.30pm you will be able to see and hear what they got up to. They were praised by the general public who said they were the best behaved school they had ever seen.

The Queens birthday

On the queen’s birthday, your child made bunting, sang the national anthem, decorated buns and had a wonderful picnic in the hall and dining room while the band played.

All parents are invited to the Leavers’ Assembly on Wednesday 20 July at 9am. Medals are given to children in every year group who have reached the Governors award for achievement and for 100% attendance.

The band will play which is always a treat. The Year 6 will be telling us their favourite memories and there will be lots of surprises.

Please do try and attend and support the children, in what is always a moving and proud opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

This year for the first time, we are also having a Nursery graduation on Friday 15.7.16 at 9.15am. If this is a success it will be an annual event.

Reminders

We are now closing the car park gate before and after school so that cars cannot come in except for those with disabled stickers. It is only for disabled parents with a displayed disabled badge and staff.
