Year 11 Prom 2016
On Friday 24 June we celebrated five wonderful years with our Year 11 students at The Riverside in Whitworth. The girls looked glamourous and the boys looked handsome. The conduct of our students was impeccable. The Riverside commented: “You are a credit to your parents, the school and yourselves” after an amazing evening dancing the night away.
All Year 11 students have been given the opportunity to download all photos from the evening. Please log onto your school email accounts.
The 39 Steps
On Wednesday the 22 June, a group of 16 Year 9 Drama students visited the Lyric Theatre at Salford's Media City to watch a highly enjoyable production of Patrick Barlow's "The 39 Steps".
This play is one of the set texts that Drama students can choose to study on the new GCSE Drama syllabus, and is currently feeding into ongoing practical work.
Transition Day: Tuesday 28 June
Over 200 Year 6 students visited St. Cuthbert's on Tuesday and experienced what a school day is like.
Our staff would like to commend and congratulate all Year 6 students. Your behaviour was brilliant. You demonstrated a mature and grown up attitude towards starting high school and we are very excited to welcome you all in September.
In one English lesson, students were asked to complete the following task: ‘Your house is about to be swept away by flooding and you have 30 seconds to save one item.
What will it be and why?’
The pupils showed real maturity in their answers with one pupil saying: “I would save my family, they are the most important thing to me and I wouldn’t be the same without them.”
First Look Open Evening
Are you already thinking about a secondary school place for September 2017? Look no further! St. Cuthbert's are hosting a 'First Look' Open Evening on July 7th at 5pm. We welcome all Primary school children and their parents to come along, take part in exciting activities and meet our friendly staff and students. St Cuthbert's Celebrates the Queen’s 90th Birthday
Over thirty guests from our local parishes attended our community tea party in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday, including Parish Priests Fr Gaspar Oladosu; Fr Joe Sweeney and Fr David O’Kane.
Guests were served a summer treat of afternoon tea and were entertained by our pupils who sang and played classical guitar.
The tea party was hosted by the School Council and Pupil Chaplains who also organised two games of bingo, a raffle and a Royal quiz.
There was even a special birthday cake which was cut by Mrs Nora Coburn, a parishioner of Holy Family.
School Lay Chaplain, Kathryn Ansley, said, "It was wonderful to be able to welcome local parishioners to St Cuthbert's, many of whom have had children and grandchildren attending our school over the years. It was lovely to see them enjoying the company of our pupils who worked so hard to make the afternoon such a success and were a credit to our school. We are very proud of them."
One of the guests commented as they were leaving the party, “I’ve had a lovely afternoon I came last year and it was fantastic - this Tea Party exceeded the last one - I'll be back next year."
