St Andrew's say farewell to the Rev Sharon Jones
Date published: 03 July 2016
St Andrew's, Dearnley held a farewell party to celebrate the Rev Sharon Jones's ten-year ministry at St Andrew's and to say thank you to her.
The tea party on Saturday was attended by the 200 or so members of the congregation she has built up in her ten years at the church.
Rev Jones led her final service on Sunday (3 July) when she led the Sung Eucharist in front of a packed church and delivered her last sermon.
In her monthly letter to worshippers in the parish magazine she wrote: "You have taught me much. I hope I have taught you how to forgive and shown you how to love. In the end, that's all that matters.
"You have been my healing. I hope in some measure I have been yours.
"My thanks and love to you all, as always."
Rev Jones is taking up a new role as Team Rector of the Church of England in Saddleworth, covering nine churches in seven parishes.
