New deacons and priests ordained at Manchester Cathedral

Priests were ordained by Bishop of Middleton at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday 25 June and The Bishop of Manchester ordained deacons at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday 26 June.

Those ordained to work in the borough of Rochdale were:

  • Karen Hamnett, who trained at the All Saints Centre for Mission & Ministry in the benefice of Middleton and Thornham with the Revd Martin Short.
  • Diane Newton, who trained at the All Saints Centre for Mission & Ministry, Castleton, St Martin with the Revd Frances Guite.
  • Jason Corrin Powell, who trained at the St Mellitus College North West to the benefice of Middleton and Thornham with the Revd Martin Short.
  • Stephen Shepherd, who trained at the All Saints Centre for Mission & Ministry at Whitworth, St Bartholomew and Facit, St John the Evangelist with the Revd Lyn Woodall.
  • Timothy (Tim) James Wickham who trained at the Oak Hill College at Balderstone, St Mary with the Revd Tony Ford.

A spokesperson said: "In the two moving services the candidates were ordained, supported by family, friends and clergy who have supported them on their long journey of faith and discernment."
