Nigel and Angela Adamson get walking for breast cancer awareness

Date published: 24 June 2016

Nigel and Angela Adamson, the owners of Rochdale’s Adamson’s Estates, got their walking shoes on for a challenging 26-mile trek to raise money for various breast cancer charities.

The pair took on the Walk the Walk London Moon Walk and continued throughout the night to finish the route around the capital. They have successfully raised £1,547 – which is set to be handed out to charities which focus on breast cancer research.

Having set off at midnight and walking all the way through the 9.30am, both Nigel and Angela were tired but accomplished.

Angela said: “To see London at night was amazing, even the London Eye was pink for the night.

“Over 15,000 people took part dressed in decorated bras to the theme of Mardi Gras and the whole event raised over £6million pounds.”

“Thank you to everyone who donated.”

Walk the Walk began in 1996 when 13 women power walked the New York City Marathon in their bras to raise money for and awareness of breast cancer. What started out as a one-off fundraising event has blossomed into a thriving multi-million pound charity, raising to date in excess of £100 million for vital breast cancer causes.

The Moon walk emerged in London when some Walk the Walk applicants didn’t manage to claim their place but were determined to still take part in something for the same cause.
