Rochdale Ladies celebrate Ascot at The Peacock Room

Date published: 22 June 2016

The Peacock Room at Crimble Hall raised £1,000 for charity with its glamorous Ladies’ Day for Ascot last weekend.

With a welcome glass of champagne in the Secret Garden to begin with, lunch was held in the decadent two AA rosette restaurant The Peacock Room in Bamford.

General manager at The Peacock Room Gaynor Walton said: “We had a fabulous Ascot event and were incredibly pleased to raise so much money for Springhill Hospice. We’d just like to say thank you to every single person who attended and who helped us to raise so much money for charity.”

Prepared by head chef Dave Broderick, lunch was a smoked haddock fish cake, served with lemon mayonnaise, pickled cucumber, cucumber gel, and capers. Poached and roasted chicken followed with potato fondant, wild mushrooms and pancetta. Dessert was a delicate passion fruit tart served with chocolate sorbet and passion fruit sauce.

After lunch, the ladies had a flutter on the horse races, with all profits being donated to the Springhill hospice, which the restaurant is a supporter of. Along with the charity auction and a raffle, the restaurant raised £1000 for the charity, which is based nearby in Rochdale.

The day was rounded off with an afternoon tea and a dance with Andy Ellison who treated the ladies to renditions of Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin classics.
