Summer term - focus on transition

As the school moves into the second half of the summer term our focus will be on the successful and smooth transition of all our students to the next stage of their educational career. Clearly for youngsters in the current Y6 this will be a continuation of the transition programme which began in the autumn term to prepare them for their move to Redwood. Equally so, students at certain key stages within school, will be supported by staff to prepare for potential changes in September. Should you have any issues on this aspects please contact school via the home school communication book.

Y9 Visit Redwood Education and Enterprise Centre (REEC)

A number of visits have taken place to the REEC for our Year 9 students as part of their transition into Key Stage 4, giving them the opportunity to sample a day in different learning environment. From the feedback from the students, they certainly enjoyed their taster day, sampling a variety of vocational activities!

Residential activities

6th form students have been taking part in a learning programme at the Calvert Trust in Keswick and a group of our key stage 4 students have sampled the residential experiences and activities at the Burrs Activity Centre in Bury. I know that all have had a fantastic experience and the warm weather will have been a bonus!
