Date published: 16 June 2016

Our Lady and St Anselm's Primary School won the netball tournament at Whitworth Sports Festival. St Bartholomew's came second and St John with St Michael Church of England coming third.

Six schools took part in the year five and six ‘High Five’ netballing tournament.

A spokesperson said: "They played really well. They also showed good teamwork and were supportive of each other's schools."

Harvey Williams, a year six child from St John with St Michael said: "I've really enjoyed competing against the other schools.

"Many of these year six children will be coming to Whitworth High with me in September and it's good to meet other school pupils who I know share a love of sports.

“Whitworth Sports Festival is a really good idea, and I am going to also enter the Whitworth Fell Race."
