Truffet Party in the Park for Queens 90th Birthday

Date published: 13 June 2016

A party in Truffet Park, Langley took place on on Saturday, in line with the rest of the country's celebrations for the Queens 90th birthday.

The idea of party in the park was a way to showcase all the good work which is going on in the Langley community and to mark her majesty's 90th birthday.

The event was planned and organised by The Angel Project staff and volunteers.

Emma Scott from the Angel Project said: “We announced our ideas to the project volunteers and everyone couldn't wait to get involved in the preparations, the event gave volunteers focus and structure over the past few weeks which has had a positive impact on their health and well being.

"The party in the park had a great turnout despite the weather, everyone had a brilliant day.

"We had a BBQ, refreshments, bungee trampolines, bouncy castles, cake stalls, crafts stalls, tombola, splat the rat, raffle, royal teddy bears picnic, bric-abrac stall, sporting games and Rochdale youth bus.

"The highlight of the day for children was the fire engine and crew from Rochdale Fire Station - children were able to sit in the driving seat, meet the crew, sit in the back on the engine and try equipment on.

"We would like to congratulate Middleton Brass Band and Middleton Gospel Choir for pulling out amazing performances in the pouring down rain.

"The choir had everyone dancing in the rain and really got the party started."

Sue Scott, manager at the Angel Project, said: “I want to thank the volunteers so much for all their dedication, commitment and help both on the event day and every other day, without our volunteers we would not be where we are today.

“We are treating our volunteers this Friday with lunch to recognise their efforts and celebrate their personal achievements.

“I am a very proud project manager.

“We would finally like to thank Rochdale Council, Middleton Township, Truffet Park wardens and partner agencies in supporting the event.”
