70,000 people attended Parklife Weekender Festival
Date published: 13 June 2016
More than 70,000 people gathered each day at Heaton Park this weekend for the Parklife Weekender Festival.
The event took place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June 2016 with 38 arrests over the two days, including theft and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
The 26-year-old woman reported missing from the festival on Saturday was thankfully found safe and well on Sunday.
Superintendent Graeme Openshaw of GMP’s Force Events Section, said: “Once again, it was great to welcome everyone to Manchester.
“I am pleased to say that the event went well and the majority of people who attended enjoyed a safe and memorable time, thanks to the great work from our officers and colleagues at Parklife, Manchester City Council, Bury Council, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Manchester and Transport for Greater Manchester.
“Considering there were more than 70,000 people going into the park each day, there was a relatively small number of arrests and I would like to thank everyone who took part in planning and everyone who attended for making it an enjoyable event.”
