Appeal to find Charlie the parrot - who sings the James Bond theme tune

Date published: 10 June 2016

The owner of a vulnerable African parrot who struggles to fly properly is making a desperate appeal to find him after he took off from his home in Castleton.

Charlie the parrot, a 10-year-old African grey breed, is a very chatty bird who likes to sing the James Bond theme tune, but struggles with flying outdoors and doesn’t know how to descend properly, making his owner highly concerned for his welfare.

Sarah Scott says that Charlie is likely to be in danger because of his lack of skills and is hoping that Rochdale Online readers can help her to track him down. His ability to sing the James Bond theme tune makes Charlie quite distinctive and Sarah hopes his musical skills will help to bring him home.

The exotic bird took flight from Manchester Road, Castleton, in a south west direction on Tuesday lunchtime (7 June).

Sarah said: “I'm frantic looking for Charlie because he is not streetwise and when he tries to fly so high he doesn't know how to descend properly and gets himself into trouble.

“The RSPCA wouldn't help me, I called them three times, and the fire service can’t do much without knowing where he is.”

She added: “His previous owners had not treated him very well and as a result he is a habitual feather-plucker but not his red tail feathers.

“He will be by now in need of a vet due to dehydration.

“I just adore him and want him home to think he is suffering breaks my heart.

“I can offer a small reward to his return. ”
