Terry Hilton has died aged 72

Date published: 10 June 2016

Terry Hilton died at the weekend, aged 72.

He is survived by his sons Matt, Mark and daughter Jean, plus six grandchildren.

His son Matt said: “I would like to thank everyone for their condolences and all the kind words said about my Dad.

“He had a sudden stroke on Friday after having virtually a trouble-free life in regard to illness.

"He lived life to the full and he would always have wanted to pass away as quickly as he did.”

Mr Hilton originally came from the Smedley area of Manchester and spent most of his working life at the Queens Road Bus Depot, where he was a conductor and then a driver.

He moved to Heywood in 1971.

He was passionate about sport, particularly cricket watching Heywood and Lancashire CC. And he was also an ardent Manchester United supporter.

Mr Hilton was one of the longest-standing members of Heywood Cricket Club. A member of the Club for more than 40 years, he rarely missed a home game.

Son Matt is a Heywood Cricket Club member and one of his grandchildren, Cavhan, joined Heywood as a player this season and has featured in junior teams and the third eleven.

The case has been referred to the Coroner so the funeral has not yet been arranged.
