Summer style showcased by fashion students

Date published: 09 June 2016

Fashion and textiles students had the exciting opportunity to showcase their creations to the public last Saturday.

The ‘Style Your Summer’ event mainly promoted the current summer collections from many high street stores. However, the audience also got to enjoy the unique creations of some of Hopwood Hall College’s talented fashion and textiles students.

The students are due to finish their BTECs this summer and so the experience was a great addition to their CVs.

The organisers were impressed with the students and their work, Linzi Atkinson, Marketing & Tenant Liaison Officer, The Rock, Bury said: “The students did a fabulous job and it really added an interesting element to our event.

“The staff and students were very professional and we would be happy to have them back again.”

Tutor Annette Houghton accompanied the students, commenting: “The garments were innovative and eclectic, echoing their personalities and different ways of working. There was a variety in approaches, utilising many techniques developed over the two year course. It was obvious that personal interpretation and diversity is encouraged.

“The catwalk presentation was refreshing, eye catching and professional.

“The students thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It developed their confidence and belief in their abilities. It was a celebration of their achievement, a fitting experience as their course comes to an end.”

All of the students are progressing to university in September.
