Rev Sharon Jones's ten-year ministry at St Andrew's, Dearnley

Date published: 07 June 2016

A farewell party to celebrate the Rev Sharon Jones's ten-year ministry at St Andrew's and to say a massive thank-you to her will be held in Church on Saturday, 2 July from 4.00pm onwards.

It will take the form of Afternoon Tea, to which all are welcome, including children.

Sharon's final Eucharist at St Andrew's will be a United Service the next day, Sunday, 3 July starting at 9.30am and such is the esteem in which she is held here, both in Church and out in the parish and the community that we confidently expect the 'full house' notices to go up on both days.

She is leaving to become Team Rector at Saddleworth, which comprises stewardship of seven parishes and nine churches, no pressure there then.

In her monthly letter to worshippers in the parish magazine for June, she wrote: "You have taught me much. I hope I have taught you how to forgive and shown you how to love. In the end, that's all that matters.

"You have been my healing. I hope in some measure I have been yours. My thanks and love to you all, as always."

Meanwhile, speakers for the new organ are now located above the parish room and in the organ loft. Wiring around Church has been completed and speakers will be connected and positioned soon.

Positioning of speakers at the right angles is critical and it will be fine-tuned when the console is in position, but due to holidays and other factors that won't be until August.

Bible Study, currently looking at the Gospel of St Luke, continues to take place on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in the Upper Room at Church.

This Saturday, 11 June, from 10.00am in the parish room, we have a Coffee Morning and 'Nearly New' event, all welcome and then on 9 July we have a parish trip to the Community of the Resurrection at Mirfield, details of which are on the notice board in the parish room.

The parish rota for Sung Eucharist at 9.30am on Sunday, June 12, is: lay assistants, D Newton, H Walker; readers, W Foote, J Coomer; Intercessions, J Mills; sidespersons, V Lucy, P Webster; refreshments, Jean, Maureen, Edna.
