School shoes and uniform
This is just a reminder that even in summer, that children need plain black school shoes and no extreme hairstyles, nail varnish, jewellery (except for small flat studs in pierced ears which will need to be covered for PE) and that every piece of uniform, including their coat and shoes, should be clearly labelled. We suggest on sunny days that your child has a labelled sunhat and an application of the all day one off suncream before school. They will also need their named water bottles.

Hay fever and other medicines.
Please do not send your child in with any medication. Please either give it to your child before school or give it in to the office for you or an authorised person to administer during the day.

Summer fair Thursday 14/7/16
Our popular Summer Fair will be straight after school on Thursday 14.7.16. In order to prepare, we are going to be asking for you to search your house for any unwanted items and send them in on non-uniform day which will be Monday 27th June;

Rec and Nursery- any unused and unwanted toiletries
Y1 - any bottles of anything from wine to shampoo!
Y2 - teddies that your child has grown out of
Y3 - any unwanted chocolate – (as if there is such a thing!)
Y4 - any bottles of anything from wine to shampoo!
Y5 – any plants you can part with
Y6 - any unwanted chocolate – for the chocolate tombola.

A big thank you to Year 6
Those of you with children in Year 6 will know that the SATs have been completed. We want to give a big thank you to all the children for all their hard work. Some of the tests were quite difficult to say the least and they didn’t give up! Our letter to the children and to you says that we know the children aren’t defined by these tests- each child has their own unique personality and strengths and we value each and every child.

Building improvements to the School
The new entrance has been completed and looks very attractive. The area left vacant, where the South block has been demolished, has been seeded once with grass seed and fencing put down to keep it safe. However, this has not worked so the Council has seeded it again. PTFA and gardening club have just got permission from the Council to plant wildflowers on this area and are now arranging when to do this. If you would like to join in please let us know or contact Jackie Barber.

We are also looking for keen gardeners to help with our ‘secret garden’. We have chicks in there at the moment for children to watch and enjoy, but the garden is getting overgrown and is too much for the gardening club to do on their own. If you have a few hours and love gardening – please let us know!! It would really benefit the children!
Improvements also include shutters in Reception and Nursery to create all weather play areas.

New Books
The last Book Fair helped us to raise over £600 for school books. This is a record! Thank you.

Fathers’ Day Pop Up shop
On Friday 4th March PTFA held their annual Mothers’ Day pop up shop, which made £197. On Friday 17th June it’s the turn of Father’s Day Pop up shop. If you send in £2.00 and a plastic bag with their name on, your child will be taken up to the Pop up shop and given the opportunity to buy from a range of lovely fathers’ day gifts.

Easter Assembly
What a fantastic turnout- thank you to everyone who made it such a success.

Music Festival
Our children won the Music Festival!!! We are officially the best primary school band in Rochdale!

To celebrate, we held a special Musical Celebration on Wednesday March 23rd at 6pm until 7pm so that all parents, including families of the children in the Band and choir, could come and see them perform. It was the most wonderful evening and shows we are rightly proud of our musical achievements. An hour of pure pleasure.

Over 150 parents and grandparents came along and we have had many requests to repeat it! More photos and videos are on the website.

Queen's Birthday
Your child will be making bunting, singing the national anthem and decorating buns to eat with their picnic.
Your child can come in red, white and blue and there is no charge. We would be very grateful if you could send in a packet of biscuits if your child is in KS1 or a packet of crisps if your child is in KS2 before the 10 th June. We will provide the rest!

Reminders
We are now closing the car park gate before and after school so that cars cannot come in except for those with disabled stickers. It is only for disabled parents with a displayed disabled badge and staff.
