Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 21 May 2016

The Fun Day at school starts at 10.00am on Saturday 21 May and finishes at 1pm. All children need to be accompanied by an adult and the entrance fee will be 50p which includes a turn on the bouncy castle. We hope to see many of you there.

Thank you to Miss Holden who organised a trip to the Sheffield Sports Arena on Wednesday 18 May for 10 IPLCN Schools and their talented athletic children. The children were able to see Jessica Ennis in training and use some of the facilities including long jump, race track and boxing. It was a fantastic event and children from all schools behaved beautifully which was commented upon by the staff at the centre. Well done IPLCN children.

One of our parents has offered to try to get together a group of volunteer parents who will help us to manage the car park at the beginning and end of the day. If any parents are able to volunteer just 20minutes either side of the day, please leave your name with the school office and we will forward your details to the parent who will coordinate. We are grateful for your support – see next news item

We request that our parents do not park on Calder Street. Double parking has caused problems and creates potentially dangerous crossing situations. Additionally, cars and minibuses are often unable to pass through which creates a dangerous traffic jam on the dual carriageway. This really does require the support of the entire Hamer Community.

Upper Key Stage 2 had a samba dance workshop on Friday 20 May as they explore their topic “Brazil”.

The children in Year 2 continue to complete their SATs tests. They have been enjoying the challenge so far and these are being delivered sensitively and skillfully to ensure no stress is caused. The children at Hamer are great though – they genuinely enjoy a challenge at all ages!

A reminder that the school will close for half term on Friday 27 May and will reopen on Monday 6 June at 8.45am. Thank you.
