Youth Sports Trust
Some of our youngsters will be taking part in a series of short videos, filmed at Redwood, to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity to support youngsters well being. The film, when completed and edited, will be used in other school environments and Disability Sports Organisations across the country. A fantastic opportunity to show our excellence with youngsters demonstrating `I can Talents.

We are very pleased with the feedback we have received from parents / carers on the recent signing workshops held in school to support the home / school links. Thank you for your support, contributions and attendance and also to Julie and the team for sharing their expertise.

Student input into staff appointments
A variety of students have been involved in the interview process for the deputy headteacher position, of which Mr Rory O`Neil was successful. The questions and rigour of the interview were of an excellent standard. Well done to those who took part and thank you.

The Nurture Room students set up a tuck shop and with the money raised, bought some food items from Aldi. The Redwood Young Leaders will be taking the food to Rochdale Food Bank. Thank you to those of you who have sent food items into school.

4C spent period 1 with their fellow Elm team members in 6th form. 5E had sent out lovely invites and we thought it was a brilliant idea. All the students chatted and mingled well, and the 5E students showed 4C their ‘All about me’ board. We also shared squash and brownies.

The ALG students have been making different types of bread over the last few weeks. They have been practicing their independence skills such as weighing, timing and following a recipe.

Students in year 11 visited the REEC centre in Middleton as part of their transition process. Students already based at the REEC did a good job of manning the reception, making the year 11s feel welcome and showing them around. There was tea, coffee and juice along with posh biscuits. The year 11s really enjoyed themselves.
