Local blind footballer Azeem Amir has set himself another challenge – the Manchester 10K run.
Azeem’s old high school PE teacher, Sam Hinchliffe, will be his guide and has used improvised techniques to help him.
A skipping rope will be the link that keeps them close and a light tug from Sam will keep Azeem on the right track.
So far they have trained on the Matthew Moss AstroTurf, at Springfield Park and on the road.
Joking about the ‘professional equipment’ used, Azeem is adamant he can complete the 10K in under an hour.
Azeem said: "‘Hopefully we can raise a lot of money for the charity MIND as this week is mental health awareness week."
Azeem is running as part of the Rochdale Sixth Form College 54 strong running team.
