Students help produce Rochdale Diversity Awards nomination films

Creative Media Production students have been asked by Glass Eye Productions to create the nomination films for the Rochdale Diversity Awards.

The 30 second videos will showcase three businesses that are shortlisted in each category, giving the audience an insight into each nominee.

Twelve students have been hard at work, filming at businesses across Rochdale over the past few weeks, each of them has committed their own time outside of college to complete the project.

Venues included Fallinge Park High School, who are nominated for the ‘Breaking Barriers Award’ and whose video was filmed by Rashad Hussain, 17, and Burhan Khan, 18, who are both from Rochdale.

Media Lecturer, Robert Maddison, oversaw the students: “Watching the way the students have engaged in this project, worked professionally and gained invaluable experience has been fantastic.”

The annual Rochdale Diversity Awards is organised by the Kashmir Youth Project and will be held in Rochdale Town Hall's historic Great Hall. The awards will take place on 26 May and students from Hopwood Hall College will also film the night.

“I feel that they have gained a fantastic insight into the world of production, having to work to a tight deadline to produce the films, which will form a critical part of the event.”
