Armed police on Milkstone Road was a false alarm

Despite a heavy police presence and armed police officers on Milkstone Road on Wednesday (11 May), it turned out to be a false alarm after a claim that someone was in possession of a firearm.
Armed officers, vans and police cars arrived on the scene at approximately 4.10pm after a report had been made that there was man with a weapon.
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that although two arrests were made, there was in fact no offence committed, no firearm possessed, and both individuals were released with no further action.
