Rochdale sixth form in training for Manchester 10K

Date published: 13 May 2016

Students and staff from Rochdale Sixth Form College are currently training for the Great Manchester Run in aid of charity Rochdale Mind, which takes place on 22 May.

The 54 strong team of staff and students have been training together in preparation for their 10k charity run.

The running team have been trying out lots of innovative ways to fit their training around their studies. Swapping the lift for stairs, and using lunch times to get a few runs in has helped them to maximise their training time.

The Rochdale Mind works to support people who suffer with a range of mental disorders and conditions. Drop in centres in Rochdale and the surrounding regions depend on funds raised by the community, which in turn go towards programmes such as Wellbeing Women’s Group and Dementia Family Link.

Rochdale Sixth Form College Teacher of PE and Personal Progress Tutor, Chris Reddy, who organises the team, said: “The students and staff have been training hard and we wish them all the best. The students are still keen to encourage the community to support where they can, and donate as much or as little to the cause.”
