Elliot White: Parents hunt driver after 15-year-old son run over and left for dead

Date published: 13 May 2016

The parents of 15-year-old schoolboy Elliot White, who was run over and left for dead, are making a public appeal to trace the driver.

Elliot's left leg was crushed when he was hit by a silver Volkswagen Golf on Royds Street, Kingsway on Sunday evening (8 May).

It is believed that a male passenger got out of the car to look at Elliot while he was lying in the road, but then got back in before the car sped off.

Elliot is now in Manchester Royal Children’s Hospital with a cage on his leg and pins holding his bones together - which may last up to four months.

His parents, Marrieclare and Terry White, are making a public appeal through Rochdale Online in the hope of tracing the driver and bringing him to justice.

Dad Terry White said: “Elliot is in a bad way now and even has pins holding his leg together, it is hardly a small injury. It beggars belief that someone would do this to him and then just leave him there.

“The police don’t really know anything and it’s not the busiest of roads where there would be witnesses. We decided the best thing to do was to come to Rochdale Online and try to get word out there, you just never know.

“Whoever did this should be brought to justice. My son has multiple broken bones now and is really suffering. If anyone can help us we will be so grateful.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were made aware of an incident involving a silver Volkswagen Golf and a male pedestrian aged 15. It took place at around 19.00pm, and so far no arrests have been made. However, enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
