Kentmere Academy receives a special visit from the North West Life bus

Date published: 12 May 2016

Kentmere Academy, a partner Academy of the Wardle Trust in Rochdale, was recently visited by the Coram Life Education bus. The aim of the bus is to bring the subjects of health and wellbeing to life and help our young people better understand and appreciate the importance of looking after themselves.

Through fun, practical and interactive activities on board the life bus, the children learned about making positive health and lifestyle choices. Students in Kentmere Academy’s Year 3/4 class have been studying the digestive system and had the opportunity to learn more about the human body and the importance of looking after our own through TAM, the life bus’s interactive body model.

Children in the Kentmere Academy Nursery and early Years were treated to a visit from the puppet characters of Harold the Giraffe and his friends. The puppets taught them about the importance of healthy eating, hygiene and how to understand our feelings.

Kentmere Academy Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Isberg said: “We were very pleased to have been visited by the Coram Life Education bus.

"With so much emphasis on academic achievement in school, especially throughout the current exam period, it was incredibly pleasing to see the Life Education Bus help the school to pass on key skills and knowledge about how we need to look after our bodies and personal wellbeing.

"Can I also thank the students of Kentmere Academy for their exceptional behaviour whilst on and around the bus, they were a credit to the school.”
