For able bodied people going to the loo is easy, for those confined to a wheelchair it is not

Hoisting equipment in public toilets
Sandra Whittaker, from Rochdale, has started a campaign to persuade the Government to make it law that disabled toilets have a hoist and changing table.
When we need the loo it’s easy for able bodied people but for the disabled who wear pads and need to be hoisted onto a changing table it is much more difficult as disabled adults can't have people lifting them due to health and safety.
Mrs Whittaker said: “This personally affects me as we have a 21-year-old son who is confined to a wheelchair.
“When we go out on a day out and need to change my sons pad there is nowhere available.
“I know there are disabled toilets but my son cannot stand and has to be hoisted. We used to be able to lift him onto the back seat of our car but now that is impossible due to him now being an adult. Days out have to be shortened due to this problem.
“I think it would help all families who have a relative they care for and would need hoisting to change their toilet needs.
“I want disabled toilets, by law, to have a hoist and changing table as days out are uncomfortable to stay in the same pad all day.
“And disabled adults can’t have people lifting them due to health and safety. This is such a need for many disabled."
