Rochdale darts team aiming for a bullseye at national championships

Date published: 09 May 2016

Rochdale darts team is aiming high this month as they top the Lancashire super league and pass through into the up and coming national championships.

The 'Rochdale Borough' team, who play every month at The Harrows pub on Bolton Road, are currently at the top of their league against 50 other teams, and are set to take on a much bigger challenge in a national competition next month.

The Harrows landlord Mark Airey said: “Lancashire and Yorkshire are two hotbeds [of darts] in the country and it is quite often one of them that go for the national title. This time Rochdale won and we are going through to the nationals, it’s a really exciting time for all of us.

“Last year Oldham won it, they are actually out closest rivals from the region, and they’ve been beat twice this year.”

He added: “There’s a lot of talking Rochdale down at the moment with recent headlines – this is something we can be proud of.”
