“Heartless” thieves steal animal rescue van

Date published: 09 May 2016

Charity workers from Animals in Distress have appealed to “heartless” thieves who stole their animal rescue van on Wednesday (4 May).

The white Transit van, which is needed to rescue injured or sick animals, disappeared from outside The Summit Pub, Littleborough, at 10pm, and has left the charity with with no van to carry out their work.

Christina Durham, who works for Animals in Distress, said: “We really just want to find it as soon as possible, it is very important to the charity and I can’t believe someone would just take it like that. If anyone has information please get in touch with us.”

Animals in Distress, based in Littleborough, is a charity dedicated to alleviating the suffering of sick and injured animals, which includes a 24-hour rescue service, veterinary treatment, neutering and a micro-chipping scheme.

Strays, abandoned animals, and cruelty cases are the main focus of the charity, and the van was fitted out with vital equipment to help them carry out their tasks.

The van has a spinning vent on the top, a locked radio and plug sockets fitted inside.

The registration plate is: DE57 XLC

Anyone with information, should call: 07462 203554.
