Marlene Oliver opens 10th local RSPCA shop

Marlene Oliver opened the tenth Rochdale RSPCA shop on Saturday (7 May).

Shirley Mellor, manager at RSPCA Rochdale Animal Centre, said: “Our lovely volunteer Marlene Oliver cut the ribbon and let our first customers over the threshold.

“Shop manager Carol and volunteer Anita have worked hard getting the shop ready.

“This is our second furniture shop and is full of all kinds of items for your home, at bargain prices.

“We are especially excited about this shop as this year we also celebrate the 10th anniversary of our animal centre reopening.

“It seems fitting that we opening are 10th shop in the same month as we are celebrate the 10th anniversary.”

The shop at 423 Oldham Road, Rochdale will be open Monday – Saturday, 9.00am -4.30pm and will be selling mainly furniture and household items.

This is the RSPCA’s second furniture shop, the other one is in Middleton.

If anyone has donations that need collecting they can phone either of the shops, Oldham Road 01706 522727 or Middleton 0161 643 5944 or contact the RSPCA driver 07825 618 181.

Shirley Mellor added: "The money we raise in our charity shops is vital as without the money they generate each year our animal centre would close."
