Preparing for Adulthood

I would like to highlight this week the achievements of some of our youngsters who are on the independent travel programme. This detailed programme is implemented with full support and input from parents and carers and provides students with the appropriate training and procedures to access independent travel to college courses, work placements and home. Thank you to parents and carers for your support for this invaluable work as we prepare our youngsters for adulthood.

Wheelchair Dancing

Our youngsters are always demonstrating their creative talents and the groups who take part in the wheelchair dancing programme always have a wonderfully inclusive activity supported by our wheelchair facilitators. These programmes give the students an opportunity to work together on such a valuable part of the curriculum.

Spotlight on Safeguarding

This week the team's focus is on the many different aspects of violence, in particular the use of physical force to harm, injure or abuse another person . This is part of our spotlight on safeguarding issues and this will be discussed in assemblies and tutorial lessons in a variety of ways to meet the youngster's level of understanding on this issue.

Key Stage 3 Headteacher Awards

One of my weekly highlights is recognizing the achievements of pupils in key stage 3 who are nominated by staff for excellent work and achieving their individual targets. This takes place on a Friday afternoon with a certificate, a letter to parents / carers and some chocolate as a reward. Well done to all those pupils who have been nominated this term. I am sure parents and carers are very proud of the achievements.

Extended Schools club programme

Thank you to parents and carers for your feedback on the recent easter holiday club programme which was very positive indeed.
