Fire safety at home
Date published: 08 May 2016
The Multicultural Women Association organised a training session on fire safety at home at the Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale.
In the recent past, there have been fatal incidences leading to loss of the lives. In addition, there are hundreds of cases of fire resulting in minor injuries, burns and damage to property.
The participants learnt about the causes of fires and how these can be avoided. They also learnt about how to escape if there is a fire and how to keep them, their children and members of the family safe.
The feedback was very positive.
Anwari Bibi, the chairwoman of the Multicultural Women Association, said: “Thank you to the trainer and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service for the delivery of such a useful training session.
“It is important for us as we do most of the cooking and look after our children and it’s very relevant to our roles and responsibilities at home.
“We hope to organise other training sessions on health, particularly mental health, in the near future.”
