9th Heywood Eagle Patrol won the First Pennine Scout cooking competition with a starter of Caesar salad, Mediterranean chicken, new potatoes and green beans, and a pancake selection.
There were eight patrols who took part, some cooking on gas, some on open fires and one patrol cooked backwoods style.
It was an open theme, with a spending limit of £3.50 per diner. Marks were given for menu planning, preparation, hygiene, leadership, team spirit and presentation.
The standard was high and only onr point separated the winners from the three patrols in joint second place.

“The top six patrols were all within three points of each other.”
