A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual activity.
Rochdale police have confirmed the man was given technical bail* and will remain in custody until 1 June 2016 pending further police enquiries.
The arrest is in relation to a number of occasions between 13 and 22 April where a man driving a black Seat car has approached young people, mainly girls between 12 and 13-years-old, in different locations in Rochdale and tried to engage with them.
A 24-year-old woman was also approached during one incident.
On two of those occasions the man was reported to be performing a sexual act when approaching them.
*Technical bail is where bail is granted to a defendant in circumstances where there are substantial grounds for believing that a remand into custody is justified but the defendant is either serving a custodial sentence, or is remanded in custody for other matters before the same or other courts (http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/a_to_c/bail/).
