Space Science at Falinge Park

Members of Falinge Park High School’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) club embarked on the first stage of our exciting space biology experiment today, Tuesday 26 April.
Working as part of a national schools’ experiment, we have planted rocket seeds from two different packets. The seeds in one packet have been on the International Space Station with Tim Peake.
The out-of-this-world, nationwide science experiment is enabling our pupils to think more about how we could preserve human life on another planet in the future, what astronauts need to survive long-term missions in space and the difficulties surrounding growing fresh food in challenging climates. Our STEM club members are very excited to how our seeds grow and develop.
We will now carefully monitor the seeds’ growth and germination, and submit our results at the end of the experiment. We won’t know which seed packet contains which seeds until all results have been collected by the RHS Campaign for School Gardening and analysed by professional biostatisticians.
